DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — The mother of a newborn boy whose umbilical cord was still attached when he was found alone behind a Connecticut grocery store has been ordered to have no contact with the infant.
Anny Castillo was arraigned Friday in Danbury on charges of abandonment of a child under the age of six years and other offenses. She remains free on $1,500 bond.

Authorities say the baby was found at night in May in Danbury. He had been wrapped in women’s clothing, and images of that clothing made public helped lead police to the mother.
The 2-month-old boy is now in state custody. Officials say he’s “healthy.”

Castillo’s attorney says his client didn’t object to the protective order because the state Department of Children and Families is already active in the case.
