A collision involving two cars closed all lanes Thursday morning.
According to police, the collision took place before exit 12.
Police say a Dodge Grand Caravan being driven by 47-year-old Ketty Mancero of Stratford was in the right lane of the two lanes on Route 8 northbound near exit 12 in Shelton. A Chevrolet Express being driven by 51-year-old Guy Lochard of Bridgeport was traveling in an unknown lane on Route 8 southbound. Lochard allegedly crossed the grassy median for an unknown reason and entered the northbound travel lanes, where he struck the front end of Mancero’s car.
Lochard’s vehicle went down an embankment into a wooded area adjacent to the right shoulder.
A passenger inside of Mancero’s vehicle was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries. It is unclear what those injuries are. Mancero was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with minor injuries and Lochard was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes as traffic remains congested.
