Layon Gray’s Kings of Harlem is coming to Connecticut on Friday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) —  Layon Gray’s Kings of Harlem is coming to the John Lyman Center in New Haven this weekend.

Actors Delano Barbosa and Lamar Cheston explained why it was so important to tell the 1939 Harlem Rens’ basketball team story.

The story of seven men who overcame adversity to win more than 2,000 games while barnstorming throughout segregated parts of the country in the 1930s.

The play about the the first African American basketball team will take place on Friday, September 15th at 8:00 p.m.
