NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) — A man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to lure a girl into his car by telling her he was an off duty police officer on Monday.

According to police, on Monday there was an incident on High Street where a 16-year-old teen was followed and approached several times by a man in a car who told her he was an off duty police officer. Police say the man asked the girl multiple times if she wanted a ride.

On Wednesday, officers were able to arrest 35-year-old Raimundo Donascimento. They are charging him with one count each of breach of peace, impersonation of a police officer and reckless endangerment.

Officials say Donascimento is being held on a $100,000 bond and will appear in court in Waterbury on Thursday.
