Waterbury police to pick up unwanted medications once a month to combat opioid crisis

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — The Waterbury police, fire and health departments are taking new steps against the opioid crisis.

Police will now go around collecting unwanted medications from the elderly and people who can’t get out of their homes.

It’ll happen on the first Wednesday of every month.

You just have to call police so they know to stop by.

The Health Department is also training businesses and community groups how to use Narcan for free.

Call the department if you’re interested.
