Part of I-91 closed on Meriden/Middletown line after pedestrian accident

MERIDEN / MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) —  Part of Interstate 91 on the Meriden / Middletown line is closed near exit 20 after a pedestrian accident on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the right lane is closed between exits 18 and 20 because of a pedestrian versus vehicle accident. They say there is also congestion for about 2.9 miles in the area of the accident.

The accident happened around 4:00 p.m.

Troopers say the accident involved two vehicles. They say there was a person outside of a vehicle when it was hit by another vehicle. Officials say at least one person suffered minor injuries.

It is unclear how long the lanes will be closed for.
