News 8 is a proud sponsor of the Playing for the Cure: Brainstormin event in Branford

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — There was a great event in Branford on Friday night for a great cause.

Ann Nyberg was at the fourth annual “Playing for the Cure: Brainstormin” event at the Stony Creek Brewery.

News 8 is proud to be a sponsor.

The fundraiser benefits brain tumor research at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

“I was treated there nine years ago for a brain tumor. Five surgeries later, I am cured of my brain tumor, but now it’s my opportunity and my time to give back and help others who are not so fortunate and need assistance and research to find a cure for this disease,” said Chris Cusano of the Cusano Family Brain Tumor Fund.

The Cusano Family Brain Tumor Fund has raised more than $100,000 for the Yale Brain Tumor Center since being formed in 2014.
