Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries after crash in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A serious motorcycle accident in Southington shut down the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike for hours on Friday night.

According to officials, emergency crews were called to the area of 1169 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike at Birch Drive just before 8 p.m.

Southington Police say a car smashed into a motorcyclist and then hit a nearby building.

The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries to his leg. His identity has not been released.

It is not known if the driver of the car will face any charges.
