Police arrest one, search for one in East Haven vehicle burglary

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — East Haven Police have arrested a man and are still searching for a suspect believed to be involved in a vehicle burglary early Tuesday morning.

According to police, around 3 a.m., two suspects were attempting to burglarize a vehicle on Kossuth Street. A similar incident was reported earlier that evening on Hellstrom Road where police say residents attempted to stop two white men. Witnesses say the suspects were operating a black SUV.

Officers responded to the scene of the later incident and located a man matching the description of one of the suspects in the area.

Nearby, police found a black Subaru Outback that had been reported stolen from North Haven. Inside the vehicle, police say they found evidence of the burglaries in plain view.

Authorities arrested Daniel Avery and charged him with Burglary in the Third Degree, Criminal Trespassing in the Third Degree, and other related charges.

The second suspect has not been identified.
