STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A Stamford woman was killed after losing control of her car and crashing into trees off of Route 15 on Sunday morning.

State Police say at around 9 a.m., 31-year-old Bianca Diaz was driving a Honda Accord on Route 15 northbound in Stamford between exits 35 and 36 when she lost control of her car while in the left lane. The Honda then traveled across the right lane and entered the grassy area along the right-hand shoulder, before striking a dirt embankment. The car continued into the wood line where it hit a series of small trees before forcefully striking a larger tree.

Police say Diaz died from her injuries sustained in the crash.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
