Man arrested for burglary in West Hartford car break-in

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A Hartford man was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a woman’s car in West Hartford on Tuesday morning.

Police say at around 4:36 a.m., officers responded to Vine Hill Road after a resident saw a man with a backpack attempting to break in to a car. Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter after seeing a flashlight and hearing someone moving through the brush nearby.

Shortly later, another call came into police describing a similar man in the yard on Webster Hill Boulevard.

Officers were then able to find the suspect walking in the area of Greystone Road and Overbrook Road. The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Alexander Diaz.

Diaz was discovered to have an active warrant for a separate burglary and larceny. He was also in possession of the items that were stolen in the initial Vine Hill Road burglary.

Diaz was arrested and charged with burglary and larceny. He was held on a $25,000 bond.
