Passenger seriously injured after Jeep crashes into pole in Bristol

BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH)– A 22-year-old Bristol man was seriously injured after the car he was in crashed into a utility pole on Tuesday morning.

Police say just before 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Riverside Avenue, near the intersection of East Street. Upon arrival, officers found the passenger, Philip Bouchard, suffering from a serious and potentially life threatening injury. He was taken by ambulance to a trauma hospital where his current condition is unknown.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 22-year-old Steven Bouchard was driving the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The Jeep then dove off the right side, striking the utility pole. Steven Bouchard sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation. Any witnesses are urged to contact Bristol Police at 860-584-3036.
