PD: Loaded gun magazine found outside North Haven elementary school

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Police are investigating after a North Haven principal found a loaded gun magazine on the ground outside of a school on Tuesday night.

Police say at around 7 p.m., officers were contacted by the Clintonville Elementary School principal for a gun magazine that was found on the ground outside the school.

Police immediately conducted multiple area searches for a firearm but did not find one. During the investigation, however, it was determined that two early morning incidents that happened on Sunday may be related.

The first incident was a vandalism, where a planter was thrown at a glass window of the school. The second incident was the discovery of an unoccupied damaged vehicle parked on the lawn of a home on Old Forge Road.

Police say a 31-year-old North Haven man has been identified as a person of interest but has no established connection to the school. Officers have also accounted for the firearm believed to be associated with the found magazine.

The incident remains under investigation. Police say there is no security threats to the school.
