Route 1 in Old Saybrook to be closed for bridge replacement activities

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) — Commuters who travel Route 1 in Old Saybrook will need to take a detour for a little while.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that the route will be closed and a detour will be implemented for five days.

The department says the route will close at 7 p.m. on Sept. 29 and will reopen on at 5 a.m. on Oct. 4.

Route 1 will be detoured while the demolition and construction of a new bridge is performed.

The project is expected to be completed on Nov. 16.
