Deputy Chief of Hamden Police placed on administrative leave

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A police officer in Hamden is being investigated by his own department.

According to officials, a deputy chief within the Hamden Police Department is on administrative leave.

Hamden Mayor Curt Leng says Deputy Chief William Onofrio is on leave pending several internal investigations and allegations of misconduct.

The mayor and the police department have not released any more details regarding the incident at this time.

Onofrio is a longtime member of the Hamden Police Department, serving as an officer since 1975.
