I-95 south reopens in West Haven after tractor trailer crash

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Interstate 95 southbound has reopened in West Haven after it was closed for several hours due to an accident involving two tractor trailer trucks Friday morning.

The Department of Transportation reports that I-95 southbound was closed between exits 42 and 41 for a tractor trailer truck that went down an embankment. The accident was reported at 6:11 a.m.

According to State Police, the crash has since been cleared and all lanes are now open to traffic.

State Police say a light pole was knocked down in the crash. There are also reports of injuries but no details were given.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

The accident caused delays for the morning commute but traffic was starting to move again around 11 a.m.
