One dead in early Sunday Naugatuck crash

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) — Naugatuck Police are investigating the cause of a motor vehicle collision with a pole early Sunday morning, which left the driver dead.

Naugatuck Police say that they responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision at approximately 12:50 a.m. in the area of 994 May St.

Investigators then determined that the vehicle, driven by Brittany Schuld, 27 of Naugatuck, was traveling westbound in the area when her vehicle left the right shoulder of the roadway colliding with a utility pole. She was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained from the crash.

The Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team responded to the accident. The scene is still under investigation and residents should expect periodic power disruptions while crews work to restore the downed power lines from the collision.

The Naugatuck Valley Accident Reconstruction Unit is requesting anyone that may have witnessed the collision to contact Naugatuck Police at 203-729-5222.
