FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Fairfield Police are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries while trying to stop a larceny involving his own vehicle.

According to police, a man was found lying in a parking lot and bleeding from his head by a customer outside of Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Officials say the victim, who works nearby, was walking to his vehicle when he noticed someone inside it. The victim then confronted the suspect who then got into what was described as a black Ford F-250 with New York plates and attempted to flee the scene.

Police say the victim grabbed onto the truck but was thrown to the ground and struck by the vehicle.

Officers believe the vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on Kings Highway toward Grasmere Avenue.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries to his lower legs.
