Bag tied up with puppies inside found floating in Massachusetts river

(WTNH)–Two Massachusetts men were shocked to find a plastic bag full of newborn puppies floating down a river south of Worcester.

The two were kayaking down the Blackstone River when they said they heard whimpering. They found a bag tied up with six puppies inside.

The smallest one was in the worst shape, but all are expected to survive.

Police are now looking for whoever dumped the dogs.

“It’s unconscionable. You can’t imagine, going through my head as a police officer of 29 years, that someone would do that,” said Chief Jeffrey Lourie of the Uxbridge Police Department. “To take six newborn puppies and discard them in a body of water to their death. It’s unconscionable.”

Offers to adopt the puppies have been pouring in.
