Police identify victim of fatal crash in Cheshire

CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — One man has died and another is recovering after a fatal crash in Cheshire on Tuesday morning.

According to police, Devon Schmitt, 20, of Durham succumbed to injuries suffered in a crash just before 7 a.m. on Yalesville Road in the area of Talmadge Road.

Matthew Gilmore, 27, of Cheshire was also involved in the collision. Police say his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The Cheshire Police Department is continuing to investigate the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call 203-271-5541.
