(WTNH)– We are coming up on a busy time of year from the holidays to the shopping! We are stretching your dollar with a little help from the experts to map out your deals.

From Columbus Day sales to Halloween and Black Friday. It’s a busy time of year that can also be expensive unless you go into it with a plan. consumer analyst Janice Lieberman told us when you should be buying certain items over the next few months.

“Columbus Day and actually October, there are going to be deals on appliances, big end appliances, some electronics. If you must have it. If you can hold off, hold off until Black Friday,” said Lieberman.

She says you’ll see deals Columbus Day weekend but some bigger purchases may come bundled with perks on black Friday. Things like gift cards or rebates.

It you can wait longer, you’ll do better on clothes around Christmas.

“You’re going to see much more apparel on sale closer to Christmas because people are gearing up for cruises and vacations so they need to get rid of winter coats and garments and things like that closer to Christmas time,” said Lieberman.

She says now is not the time to buy the new iPhone. Those will also come with incentives later on and when you do, don’t get it from Apple, get it from amazon or a big box store that may give you some kind of a perk in return.

So what can you get a better deal on NOW? Gardening tools, plants and, especially around Columbus day, home décor needs.

“We’re going to see around Columbus Day, it’s a good time to remodel. There are vanities that are on sale at Home Depot,” said Lieberman.

And for some reason, within the next week or so, sneakers will also come down in price.
