Capitol Report After Hours: Rep. Juan Candelaria discusses crisis in Puerto Rico, impact on Connecticut

(WTNH)–In this edition of Capitol Report After Hours, State Rep. Juan Candelaria (D-New Haven) joins the panel to discuss the ongoing crisis in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria, and how Connecticut will be impacted. Plus, he weighs in on the state budget stalemate.

Two cities in Connecticut– Hartford (5th) and Bridgeport (7th)– are among the top 10 in terms of Puerto Rican population in the United States. Candelaria, who has friends and family on the island, says it’s been hard to get in touch with them.

New Haven has put together several fundraisers to try and support relief efforts there. Donations will be taken on Saturday in the Elm City.

Candelaria discusses some of the problems in getting aid to Puerto Rico, and what people can do to help.

It’s all in this edition of “Capitol Report After Hours.”
