New Haven police, fire will collect money for Puerto Rico relief on Saturday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–New Haven firefighters and police officers will be collecting money on Saturday for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. The event, called “New Haven for Puerto Rico, ” will be held at Quinnipiac Park starting at 10 a.m.

Also, at intersections across the city, police and firefighters will collect donations. The Assistant Fire Chief says he and other firefighters are from Puerto Rico.

“It is hard not to be emotional. People in nursing homes and not having the infrastructure not having the same resources we have over here makes it really hard so that drives us,” he said.

Fire fighters and police officers will be at intersections across the city from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
