Moose put down after being struck in Essex on Route 9

ESSEX, Conn. (WTNH) — A moose has been put down after being struck by a vehicle in Essex on Route 9 Saturday morning.

According to DEEP Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon), anyone traveling near Route 9 by exit 4 is urged to drive cautiously after a moose was struck earlier in the day.

EnCon Police say the moose was hit around 10:30 a.m. by a vehicle traveling southbound.

Officers say they put the moose down because of its injuries.

Police do not believe anyone in the vehicle suffered any injuries.
