One dead following car accident in Putnam

PUTNAM, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating a crash that left a driver dead in Putnam early Saturday morning.

Putnam Police report the accident occurred on the intersection of Grove Street and Tatem Street at about 1:05 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle was driving east on Grove St. when it struck a utility pole on the north side of the roadway. The vehicle’s lone occupant was transported to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam where they succumbed to their injuries.

Route 12 in Putnam was closed between Center and Seward Streets due to the crash. It has since reopened.

The accident remains under investigation, and Putnam Police urges anyone who may have witnessed it to contact them at 860-928-6565.
