Capitol Report After Hours: State Rep. Juan Candelaria speaks on Puerto Rico

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — People in Connecticut have strong ties to Puerto Rico, with many having friends and family still on the island.

In fact, two U.S. cities that have the highest population of Puerto Ricans are right here in Connecticut, with Hartford being 5th and Bridgeport being 7th.

Democratic State Representative Juan Candelaria stopped by the studio to discuss his connection to the U.S. territory.

“…I do have friends and family down there, some that I haven’t been able to connect with,” he explained. “So, we don’t know what’s really going on in the island…”
