Oil leak in Berlin fixed; road remains closed

BERLIN, Conn. (WTNH) —  Toll Gate Road in Berlin has been closed indefinitely because of an underground oil leak.

According to the Department of Energy and Protection (DEEP), oil has been seeping into nearby Belcher Brook.

Officials say the leak was caused by a puncture in an abandoned oil line, but that the problem has since been fixed.

Crews are continuing to work to clean up the spill and reopen the road.
