West Haven Police look for burglar who attempted to start fire

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– West Haven Police are investigating after someone allegedly broke into a home and then attempted to set it on fire on Sunday morning.

Police say officers responded to an apartment inside of the building at 149 Canton Street at around 8:45 a.m. to the report of a burglary.

It was then determined that someone had entered the apartment while the residents were sleeping by forcing the front door. Police say the suspect or suspects then took items of value before attempting to set a fire in the home as they fled.

There is no word on any suspects at this time. Anyone with information is urged to contact West Haven Police at 203-937-3905.
