The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 3.6 million Children’s Playtex plates and bowls saying that there is a clear plastic layer over the graphics that can peel or bubble from the surface of the plates. This causes a choking hazard to young children.
It is suggested that consumers immediately stop using the recalled plates and bowls and also take them away from young children.
The Playtex products were sold at Babies“R”Us, Target, Walmart, and other stores, as well as online at Amazon.com from October 2009 through August 2017.
Playtex says they have received 372 reports of the clear plastic layer over the graphics bubbling or peeling,11 reports of pieces of the detached clear plastic found in children’s mouths and four reports of choking on a piece of the clear plastic layer.
