Wallingford’s Erin Berthold named Connecticut Teacher of the Year

(WTNH)–A special teacher was honored on Tuesday in Connecticut. Erin Berthold, a first grade teacher from Wallingford, has been selected as the 2018 Connecticut Teacher of the Year.

State and local officials joined her at Cook Hill School on Tuesday afternoon to deliver the good news to her students and the community.

“It’s so humbling. The whole experience has been so amazing. The Teacher’s Association asked me if I had any questions, and I just said, I want to say thank you. I’ve never had so many people come together for me before,” Mrs. Berthold said.

Berthold helped create a website for teachers to post videos of themselves reading for students to watch. She succeeds 2017’s Connecticut Teacher of the Year, Lauren Danner, a science teacher at North Branford High School.
