Quinnipiac University practices fire safety with “mock burn”

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Quinnipiac University and the Hamden Fire Department practiced fire safety on Wednesday.

The school did a “mock burn” of a dorm room.

The idea is to illustrate to students how quickly a fire can get out of control.

“We’re trying to educate the students on how to use a fire extinguisher but also how quickly a fire can spread,” explained Quinnipiac University Associate Vice President of Facilities Keith Woodward.

Hamden Fire and university officials also addressed what can be done to reduce fire risks.
