Rep. Juan Candelaria: “Puerto Ricans have been treated as third-class citizens”

(WTNH)– A rally on Wednesday in Hartford joined several people across the state, all demanding more aid to help relieve and rebuild Puerto Rico.

State Representative Juan Candelaria says the federal government has not done enough to help the island.

“I think Puerto Ricans have been treated as third-class citizens. Why? Because there has been a delay by this administration ensuring that a lot of the relief efforts in the island get there, and they have been delayed,” Candelaria said.

Others at the rally say President Trump has not shown sympathy for the victims and survivors.

“He just went to Puerto Rico to bash my people, and humiliate my people in Puerto Rico,” a protester said.
