Would-be carjacker fought off by victim’s mother in Ansonia

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — Ansonia Police are searching for a suspect after they say he tried to rob a woman of her car on Tuesday night.

According to police, a woman was approached by a man on Howard Avenue when she exited her vehicle. Police say the man pointed a handgun at her and demanded the victim’s car keys.

Police say the victim complied and fled the scene but the suspect was unable to take the vehicle after he was fought off by the victim’s mother. The suspect reportedly fled north on Howard Avenue toward Grove Street.

Officials describe the suspect as a black man who stands around 5’5″ tall and is in his early 20’s with short dark hair. He was said to be wearing a grey jacket.
