Concept of mindfulness extends to eating

(WTNH)– An old philosophy is being applied once again to combat obesity.

Nutritionists are using the Eastern Concept of Mindfulness to promote weight loss. Mindfulness is being aware of your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and environment.

Diet programs using the “mindful eating” approach recommend for people to take their time while eating, focusing on chewing your food thoroughly, and being in tune with body signals that let you know whether you are hungry or full.

The big lesson is that you shouldn’t simply be on autopilot when you eat or mindlessly snack on whatever is around.
