Blumenthal, DeLauro to give campaign contributions from Harvey Weinstein to charities

(WTNH)–Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro have joined other Democrats in announcing they are giving away campaign contributions they received from Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

This comes after the New York Times uncovered decades of sexual harassment complaints against him. The allegations span three decades. Senator Richard Blumenthal will donate $2,700 to the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence.

Congresswoman DeLauro will donate $1,000 to the Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven.

Weinstein has apologized, saying in a statement that he caused a lot of pain, and announcing that he’s taking a leave of absence to work on his temper and behavior towards women.
