‘Connecticut Idol’ Audition FAQ

(WTNH) — Auditions for ‘Connecticut Idol’ are taking place on Tuesday, October 17th at Mohegan Sun.

If you’re interested in trying out in front of a panel of judges in hopes of securing a “Silver Ticket”, here’s what you need to know:

Is there an age limit?

The Contest is open to permanent legal U.S. residents who reside within Connecticut and who are 15-28 years old by June 11, 2017 (you must be born on or between Jun 12, 1988 and June 11, 2002).

What should I bring with me to the audition?

Just you and your voice! You’ll be performing a 30 second song of your choice a-capella (without instrumental accompaniment).

Should I do anything ahead of time?

Auditions will only be open to the first 300 eligible entrants ahead of the event. Those who are interested should have filled out the registration form and received email confirmation with an audition time.

Do I get to select a time to audition?

No. Each confirmed contestant will receive a 2-hour window of time to arrive within their confirmation email. Please note that these times may be subject to change. Order of audition is first-come-first-serve within those windows of time. We strongly suggest arriving early.

Does my registration guarantee an audition?

Yes, if you were one of the first 300 eligible entrants and arrive between your designated window of time, you will be able to audition.

Do I have to be from Connecticut?

Entrants must reside in Connecticut.

Who are the judges?

Performances will be judged by a two-person combination of iHeartMedia (KISS 95.7, KC101, Country 92.5 and The River 105.9) and WTNH News 8 employees.

What will I be judged on?

Those who audition will be judged on: 50% vocal ability, 25% stage presence and 25% personality.

What happens if you already have 300 people who are auditioning?

‘Connecticut Idol’ auditions will only be open to the first 300 eligible people who have registered online and who have received confirmation. The opportunity is closed after that.

If I’m under 18, does my parent/guardian have to come with me?

Yes, entrants under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian at the local auditions, as well as the American Idol judging city in Savannah, Georgia, on October 28th or October 29th, 2017, should they win this Contest.

What do I win?

The winner will receive a “Silver Ticket” and transportation costs for the winner (only), up to $2,500 to the American Idol judging city in Savannah, Georgia on October 28th or October 29th , 2017.

When will the winner be selected?
