WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– Today could be a game changer if you’re out of work or you know someone who is. A series of job fairs will be held over the next few weeks.

The hope is the Connecticut Department of Labor’s “fall career fair series” will help people land jobs.

The job fair in Waterbury Friday is called “The Waterbury Diverse Ability Career Fair.” It’s at Naugatuck Valley Community College from 11 a.m. until 3 this afternoon.

Many employers will be there, including Comcast, Liberty Bank and Walgreen’s, just to name a few.

“A lot of job seekers are not aware of the potential opportunities that are available at these companies so coming to an event like this is a chance to talk face to face with an employer and explore occupations that may be pertinent to their job skill,” said Mohammodu Giwa, CT Dept. of Labor.

If you can’t make it to Friday’s career fair, there are others in the next few weeks. “The Middlesex County Career Fair” is Wednesday October 11th at the Radisson Hotel in Cromwell.

The other is the “New Haven Diverse Ability Career Fair” on October 31st. That’s at Gateway Community College in New Haven.

The Connecticut Department of Labor says not only can you find jobs at these fairs, but you can also get help putting together the perfect resume.

If you’re a veteran, there are people who can offer you guidance and assistance and you can get information on job training programs around Connecticut.

They also say each career fair usually includes between 50 and 80 companies looking for new workers.

If you go to any of these fairs, good luck!
