(WTNH) — Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal returned from a trip to Puerto Rico this weekend after surveying the rescue and recovery effort.

On Monday, Sen. Blumenthal met with Puerto Rican families arriving in Connecticut to discuss the conditions on the island.

The Senator says, while more could have been done in advance of the hurricane, the immediate need is to help the millions who are suffering.

“The much bigger task, in my view, is rebuilding and recovery in a way that’s resilient and restores the economic health…and well-being of the island,” Sen. Blumenthal said.

90 percent of the island still has no power.
