Branford’s Stony Creek Brewery wins medals at Great American Beer Festival


BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Connecticut brewery has taken home high honors in the 2017 Great American Beer Festival.

Stony Creek Brewery in Branford claimed two bronze medals in the competition, for its Stony Joe Coffee Mocha Stout in the Coffee Beer category, and for its flagship Dock Time Amber Lager in the Vienna-Style Lager category.

Two other Connecticut craft breweries were honored as well, including Back East Brewing in Bloomfield, and Half Full Brewery in Stamford.

In all, the Great American Beer Festival competition awarded 293 medals to some of the best commercial breweries in the United States, plus three medals to teams of homebrewers paired with professionals.

Winners were chosen out of 7,923 competition entries from 2,217 breweries in 50 states plus Washington, D.C.
