Dog, cat killed in Cromwell house fire


CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH)– A cat and dog were killed in a house fire that broke out in Cromwell on Tuesday.

Police say they received a 911 call reporting smoke coming from the roof of a home on Grove Road. When officers and firefighters arrived on scene, they too saw smoke coming from the roof, as well as flames inside the home.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. It was determined that the fire had started in the kitchen and spread up the exhaust pipe into the ceiling.

Police say no one was home at the time of the fire but two pets, a dog and a cat, who died in the fire. There were no other injuries reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
