EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH)– East Lyme Police investigated a threat that was made to the high school via Instagram on Monday night.

East Lyme Police say at around 6:42 p.m., they were contacted by the San Jose California Police Department after a resident there reported that they were contacted on Instagram by an account utilizing their name. The person on the account then told them that they would be calling in a bomb threat to East Lyme High School using their name. However, they did not try to extort anything.

East Lyme officers then spoke with the San Jose resident and San Jose Police who said that they have experienced this kind of incident before, and at no time was a threat to East Lyme High School made.

Out of caution, East Lyme Police responded to the school to check out the pool facility and had the Flanders Fire Department on stand by. Police say that search yielded nothing.
