5 kilograms of fentanyl seized on Interstate 95

(WTNH) — A large quantity of fentanyl was seized by Connecticut State Police while conducting a traffic stop in September.

According to police, on Sept. 30 just after 6 a.m., officers pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 95 North near exit 21.

Officials say probable cause was developed while speaking with the operator and passenger and consent to search the vehicle was given.

A narcotics K-9 led officers to the trunk of the vehicle where police say approximately five kilograms of fentanyl was located. Officials also say they found a small amount of cocaine.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Isaiah Roman and 21-year-old Arianna Spencer, both of Rhode Island, and took them into custody.

Roman is facing charges of Sale of Certain Illegal Drugs and Illegal Possession of Narcotic. Spencer is facing charges of Speeding, Sale of Certain Illegal Drugs, and Illegal Possession of Narcotic.

Both are being held on a $500,000 surety bond.
