Top Halloween costumes of 2017

(WTNH) — Whether you want to be trendy with the coolest costume, or know which costumes to avoid looking like everyone else, the list of the most popular Halloween costumes for 2017 is now out.

According to a new National Retail Federation report, Americans will spend a record $9.1 billion on Halloween this year between costumes, candy, and decorations. The report finds that nearly seven out of every ten households in America plans to celebrate Halloween this year.

To get the best deals on Halloween gear, survey participants said they find the best deals at discounts stores as well as those short-term “pop-up” Halloween stores. Prosper Insights Principal Analyst Pam Goodfellow told the National Retail Federation that consumers are already hunting for the best items for themselves and their homes.

“Halloween continues to be a highly anticipated holiday for Americans, who will spend a record amount this year with increases across all purchasing categories. Expect consumers to be on the lookout for early-bird promotions both online and in-store as they hunt for the best items to complete their costumes and embellish their homes.”

So what are the most popular costumes for 2017?

Here are the Top Ten Halloween Costumes for children, adults, and pets. Superheroes, animals, and classics like witches and ghosts are still in the top ten.
