NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Today we’re Cruisin’ Connecticut to the Shops at Yale for the 2nd Annual New Haven Chalk Art Festival!
Andrea Casey is this year’s featured, local artist. The West Haven native got her start in an unlikely way:
I worked at Starbucks and my managers said “we want you to do the menu” because they knew I was an artist. So I was like “OK I’ll do it.” So I didn’t even go by what they wanted me to do. I just did what I wanted to do.
Now she spreads her talent across canvases, streets, and signs across the country.
Now I can be bold, and do graphics and do the lettering I like doing. It just makes me feel the most creative and at touch with my roots. My Mom was an artist.
Casey will be featured at the 2nd Annual New Haven Chalk Art Festival on Saturday, October 21st. You can join in on the fun – its free! There’s going to be different categories for adults, children, and a group adult category.
