PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH)–A Bristol man is facing drunk driving charges for a sixth time after a wrong way crash in Plainville. Police said 47-year-old Richard Boughton was driving east in the westbound lanes on Route 72 on Thursday night.
Police responded after receiving several 9-1-1 calls from drivers.
Boughton ended up crashing his 1999 blue Ford Explorer. He then failed field sobriety tests.
Boughton has been convicted of DUI five times in the past. He’s being charged with operating while under suspension, along with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and driving the wrong way on a one-way highway.
Bond in his case was set at $50,000.
