First flight from Puerto Rico to Connecticut lands as displaced reunite with family

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTNH)–For the first time in two weeks, the only flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico landed at Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport on Friday. There were emotional reunions at the airport as the flight arrived.

Lots of hugs, tears, and joy, but now comes the apprehension, as hundreds of people came in on two flights, and now have nowhere to go.

Maria Lopez has been trying to get her mother to Puerto Rico since the hurricane, because she’s been living in dangerous conditions.

“No water, no food, no lights, no medecine,” Lopez said.

Lopez said her mother would be staying with her.

The Red Cross says they will provide people with food, water, and shelter, until they can get established in Connecticut.
