(WTNH)-20 year old Andrew Belliveau from Lynn, MA has started a challenge to raise money and awareness for a rare condition that he suffers from called, Gastroparesis. So far David Price, Brock Holt, Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr., Chris Young, & Rick Porcello of the Boston Red Sox have participated in the Pie Face Challenge. In addition, the challenge has hundreds participants including former MLB players David Cone & David Ross, Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports, several Boston area media/radio personalities, and 2 CBS Sports reporters.

The rules of the challenge are pretty simple! All you have to do is record yourself smashing a pie tin full of whipped cream in your face, challenge your friends, post it to social media, and donate to G-PACT, a non profit for Gastroparesis based in PA. To date, the challenge has raised well over $4,000 for G-PACT!

Gastroparesis is a condition that causes your stomach muscles to work improperly leaving patients unable to digest food. The symptoms of Gastroparesis include constant nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain/bloating, and malnutrition. Because of the severity of the symptoms, patient’s quality of life is greatly diminished. And to make things even worse, there is no cure and little awareness/resources for patients.
