State police cruiser involved in Route 8 crash in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH)– A Connecticut State Police cruiser was involved in an accident on Route 8 in Bridgeport Friday morning.

A state trooper’s cruiser was one of the cars involved in a three car accident that happened in the area of exit 2 on Route 8 at around 6 a.m.

Police said Friday night that the crash was caused by the driver of a large crane. State police said the trooper was rear-ended by a crane following too closely. They said the trooper’s injuries are not serious.

Route 8 southbound was partially closed for a while between Exits 3 and 2 but has since reopened.
