Plainfield car crash leaves one injured

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Crews in Plainfield responded to a one car crash near I-395 on Saturday morning.

Plainfield Police responded to a reported crash on Plainfield Road at approximately 8:41 AM. Once on the scene, they found the vehicle, later found to be registered to Joseph Lombardy, 60 of Moosup, off the roadway just east of the 395 overpass.

The driver, Samantha Gooslin, 31 of Moosup, said she had fallen asleep. This led to the vehicle veering off the south side of the roadway, clearing a drainage culvert, ending up stuck on the concrete culvert.

Crews helped Gosslin, who was complaining of leg pain, from the vehicle. She was then transported to the Backus Emergency Department in Plainfield, which is where she said she was headed originally to pick up Lombardy.

The vehicle was removed by CDLS Towing and the crash remains under investigation.
