Crews work to repair water main break in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Crews are on scene repairing a water main break in Hartford Monday morning.

The Metropolitan District Commission says that the 6 inch water main break happened on Hawthorn Street in the overnight hours. Two two-family houses on Hawthorn Street between Imlay Street and Laurel Street will be affected by the water shutdown.

Repairs on the water main were expected to take between 5-7 hours but now should be complete between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The water main was installed in 1902.
